This Saturday, there was a wedding in Mumbai (India) with 4000 guests. Show and entertainment were provided by Marc van Laere Productions. A major technical feat with air acrobatics and a lot of visual spectacles, larded with Indian exclaims of ‘oh’ and ‘ah.’ A prosperous Indian bridal couple had chosen MARC to create their fairy-tale wedding.
How do you acquire such a job? According to Marc van Laere, “it’s been word of mouth. An Indian relative of the couple witnessed a Bencha Theatre perfomance last year, at an event in Brussels. This set the ball rolling.”
Technical producer Ton Soepenberg (Polytechno) stayed in India for two weeks preparing the job, while Rachel Melief (Bencha Theatre) stood for the artistic concept.
On the day of the wedding ceremony, Alma Nieto put the cherry on the pie by singing a duet with Richard Marx. Performing with a world artist also meant a top rating for Alma.
“It is clear there is a demand for our know-how abroad,” says Marc van Laere. “In our line of business, we are capable of realising state of the art technical and artistic productions just anywhere. My own company derives 35 % of its turnover from abroad. This is a fast growing market, full of growth opportunities, not just for myself but for the entire event line of events production.”
